NAIROBI, KENYA - Wiper Patriotic Front and Azimio la Umoja Coalition leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday hosted Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua and Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) chief Eugene Wamalwa for high-level consultative talks in Nairobi, signaling an accelerated push to consolidate opposition forces ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The consultative meeting comes barely twenty-four hours after the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party’s Joint Council and National Executive Committee (NEC) officially conferred a mandate upon Kalonzo to spearhead unity initiatives and expand the coalition's umbrella.

Speaking following the closed-door session, Kalonzo noted that the talks form a critical component of his ongoing engagements with like-minded political formations. He emphasized that the initiative is aimed at creating a broad-based political platform structured to address national challenges and offer alternative leadership.

The three leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuous structured dialogue, political consultation, and opposition realignment. In a joint statement, they underscored that their collective priority remains building strong cooperation among key political entities to deliver a formidable front that aligns with the democratic and socio-economic aspirations of the Kenyan electorate.

The participation of Gachagua’s newly focused DCP alongside Wamalwa’s DAP-K highlights an intensifying effort by key opposition figures to build cross-regional alliances ahead of the next electoral cycle. The leaders indicated that further multi-party consultations will follow in the coming weeks as the opposition seeks to solidify its administrative and campaign machinery.
