KITENGELA, KENYA - President William Ruto made an extensive development tour of Kitengela, Kajiado County, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, where he launched, inspected, and commissioned a series of high-impact national government infrastructure projects designed to spur local economic growth. Addressing thousands of enthusiastic residents in Kitengela Town, the Head of State reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transforming the fast-growing urban hub into a modern city. Acknowledging local transport challenges, President Ruto pledged immediate government intervention to tarmac key constituency transit networks.

"The roads in Kitengela are currently very dusty, just like the roads going to heaven. I am going to mobilize the required funds, and before this year ends, Kitengela will look like a modern city," President Ruto assured the public.

During his itinerary, President Ruto presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Municipality Affordable Housing Project and inspected progress at the Kitengela VET Affordable Housing site. The initiative will see 850 modern housing units constructed in Kitengela as part of a broader KSh 28 billion countywide allocation earmarked for 11,000 housing units, modern market facilities, and institutional hostels. Interacting with site engineers, local artisans, and construction workers, the President emphasized that the Affordable Housing Programme serves a dual purpose: expanding dignified shelter and generating immediate employment opportunities for young people and digital workers.

In addition to housing, the President highlighted ongoing regional connectivity projects, pushing forward transport upgrades such as the critical Kitengela-Rongai and Isinya- Konza link roads to ease transit and accelerate commerce between Kajiado and neighboring industrial centers. He also inspected the ongoing construction of the Kitengela Modern Market, designed to offer micro-entrepreneurs, small traders, and local farmers decent, structured commercial spaces. President Ruto called on residents to continue supporting the government's economic agenda, emphasizing that targeted investments in housing, roads, and markets remain key to driving inclusive, long-term prosperity.
