Nairobi, November 22 , 2024- Safari Park Hotel was abuzz with activity as coffee stakeholders from across the country gathered for the highly anticipated "Market Access: Positioning Kenyan Coffee on the Global Stage" event. The forum brought together smallholder farmers, buyers, exporters, roasters, certification bodies, and development partners to spotlight Kenyan coffee as a premium global commodity.

The event tackled critical challenges in the coffee value chain, including fluctuating prices, middlemen exploitation, and the impact of climate change. Through collaboration, participants explored innovative solutions aimed at creating a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable coffee industry.

The event featured live cupping demonstrations that highlighted Kenya’s distinctive coffee flavors and aroma profiles, emphasizing the superior quality that sets Kenyan coffee apart. Networking sessions allowed farmers to connect directly with buyers, fostering relationships that could bypass exploitative middlemen. Additionally, presentations on sustainability and certification underscored the importance of ethical sourcing and environmentally friendly practices in maintaining Kenya's reputation as a coffee powerhouse.

One smallholder farmer shared, "This platform gives us hope. Connecting with buyers directly and learning about sustainability ensures we not only survive but thrive in the global market." A buyer echoed this sentiment, praising Kenyan coffee as "an unparalleled product, with a story and quality that resonates with consumers worldwide."

The Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) and Solidaridad were instrumental in making the event a success.
