KITUI, KENYA
- Wiper Patriotic Front and Azimio la Umoja Coalition Leader, H.E. Kalonzo
Musyoka, today attended the burial of his first cousin, the late Esther Nzasu
Muisyo, in Kitui County. The opposition leader joined family members, friends,
and local residents to pay their final respects in an emotional send-off.
He was accompanied by a delegation of prominent
leaders, including Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, Kitui County Women
Representative Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu, and Mwingi West Member of Parliament Hon.
Eng. Paul Nzengu.
Addressing mourners, H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka pivoted to
critical national concerns, sharply criticizing the government's controversial
plan to offload its 15% stake in Safaricom PLC. Kalonzo vehemently termed the
telecommunications giant a strategic national asset, emphasizing its
irreplaceable role in Kenya’s economic stability, communication infrastructure,
and overall national security. He warned that privatizing such a vital asset
directly threatens the livelihood and data sovereignty of millions of Kenyans.
Turning his attention to institutional integrity,
the former Vice President strongly defended the state of the Judiciary. He
described the courts as the last line of defense for ordinary citizens in
safeguarding justice and preserving the constitutional order.
Kalonzo affirmed that when the United Alternative
Government assumes office, it will prioritize comprehensive judicial reforms
designed to robustly strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust.
He concluded his address with a passionate call for national unity, responsible
leadership, and an unwavering, collective commitment to protecting Kenya’s
public institutions and sovereignty.
