Nairobi, October 10, 2025 — Wiper Patriotic Front Party Leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has officially declared his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 General Election, accepting the nomination by the Wiper Patriotic Front during the National Delegates Conference held at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.
In his address to thousands of delegates, party members, and international guests, Dr. Musyoka said he accepted the nomination with gratitude, humility, and a renewed sense of duty to lead Kenya toward justice, unity, and prosperity. He expressed appreciation to his family for their steadfast support, to his wife Pauline and children, and to the Almighty God whom he credited for his journey and strength. He also acknowledged the presence of dignitaries and opposition allies including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Hon. Martha Karua, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, and Speaker Emeritus JB Muturi who attended the event as special observers.
In a passionate speech, Kalonzo lamented the deep suffering facing Kenyans, describing the current state of the nation as one of hardship, inequality, and lost opportunity. He said that the country was hurting due to mismanagement, misplaced priorities, and betrayal of public trust. He noted that Kenyans were overtaxed, underpaid, and overburdened, paying for services they do not receive. He accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of implementing excessive levies that had made life unbearable for ordinary citizens.
He criticized the current government’s economic model, saying that it had destroyed industries, scared away investors, and increased public debt to unsustainable levels. He described the “Bottom-Up” approach as an illusion that had instead led to what he termed as bottomless corruption and top-down greed. Kalonzo warned that Kenya’s once-thriving industries were closing down while jobs were shifting to neighboring countries because of high taxation and poor economic policy.
The Wiper Party Leader condemned what he called the government’s attempt to capture independent institutions including Parliament, the media, and the judiciary. He thanked members of the press for resisting political pressure and called on the judiciary to stand firm in protecting justice and the rule of law. He accused the regime of dismantling Kenya’s international diplomacy and involving itself in questionable regional dealings, alleging that corruption and personal gain had replaced patriotism in foreign relations.
Kalonzo expressed deep concern over the treatment of young people in Kenya, referencing the protests by the Gen Z generation in 2024 that were met with state violence. He said that the killing and intimidation of young people demanding justice, jobs, and dignity marked the lowest point of governance and represented a moral collapse of leadership.
Despite painting a grim picture of the nation’s current situation, Kalonzo’s speech was filled with optimism and determination. He assured Kenyans that the country could and would rise again through honest, people-centred leadership. He promised to deliver a 24-hour economy that would generate employment, lower the cost of living, and restore hope to millions of struggling households.
He pledged to revive stalled national projects such as the High Falls Dam to boost energy production and industrial growth. He promised to scrap punitive taxes such as the Affordable Housing Levy, reform the education system, and prioritize investment in innovation, agriculture, and the blue economy. He said that under his administration, professionalism, not political loyalty, would determine employment, and that young people would benefit from a transparent and functional youth enterprise fund in every county.
Kalonzo promised to rebuild the education sector to ensure that no child was denied an opportunity to learn because of poverty. He vowed to restore dignity in schools and universities, emphasizing vocational skills alongside academic excellence. He also promised to make healthcare affordable and accessible to every Kenyan, ensuring that medicines are available in hospitals and that healthcare workers are respected and adequately compensated.
He said his administration would end police brutality, protect freedom of expression and assembly, and guarantee safety for all Kenyans. He emphasized unity, stating that a divided nation cannot prosper and that his government would prioritize inclusion, justice, and equality for all citizens.
Kalonzo urged Kenyans to register to vote and prepare to make their voices heard at the ballot in 2027. He said that real change would only come through collective action and that the ballot was the most powerful weapon in the hands of the people. He called on citizens to reject corruption, incompetence, and oppression by voting wisely to reclaim their country from the current administration.
In his closing remarks, Kalonzo reaffirmed his belief in Kenya’s resilience and his commitment to building a country grounded in honesty, fairness, and opportunity. He paid tribute to farmers, traders, boda boda riders, and the youth whom he described as the true backbone of the nation. He said that from Lamu to Bungoma, from Mombasa to Meru, from Wote to Turkana, and from Kiambu to Tseikuru, every Kenyan deserves dignity and justice.
Kalonzo concluded his speech with a powerful rallying call for unity and transformation, declaring that the Wiper Patriotic Front and its coalition partners were ready to lead Kenya into a new dawn. He said that the time had come to free the nation from corruption, greed, and suffering and to build a just and prosperous Kenya for all.
He ended his speech by affirming his faith in divine guidance and the collective will of the people, saying that Kenya’s best days are still ahead.
