On December 8, 2024, Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka addressed concerns regarding the prolonged delay in reconstituting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He placed the blame squarely on President Ruto's UDA government, accusing them of using deliberate tactics to remove Koki Muli's name from the proposed list.
Dr. Musyoka made these statements during a visit to the Calvary Chosen Church in Thika, Kiambu County. Earlier in the day, he had attended Sunday services at PCEA Nguthuru Parish - ELIM Church in Kenol, Murang'a County. In his remarks, Dr. Musyoka accused a Kiambu High Court judge of working on behalf of the UDA government, undermining judicial efforts that sought to promote fairness and transparency.
The Vice President’s statements were supported by former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu, along with former Members of Parliament Peter Mwathi and Jude Jomo. They collectively expressed their frustration over the government’s failure to take decisive action on the IEBC, questioning whether this reflected a lack of preparedness or an unwillingness to relinquish power ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group also voiced their support for a united opposition, focused on removing President Ruto from office. They emphasized that former President Uhuru Kenyatta remains a key figure in Mount Kenya's political leadership, and they vowed to continue advocating for what they view as the region's best interests.
