The opposition’s renewed sense of unity has set the stage for one of the most defining political battles ahead of the November 27th by-elections. After weeks of intense consultations, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), the Democratic Party (DP) and the Democratic Citizens Party of Kenya  (DCP) have agreed to rally behind joint candidates in a move that signals a new chapter of collaboration and political maturity within the opposition.

The meeting, filled with a sense of purpose and symbolism, opened with reflections on the timeless message of “Kenya-Mamayangu, Kenya-Babayangu, Hatuta-Kuacha Milele , a  composition by the late Kakai -  Kilonzo that calls for national unity. The leaders emphasized that this is not just an election pact but a commitment to build one strong nation guided by shared ideals and the will of the people. The opposition parties, long seen as divided by personal interests and regional loyalties, are now seeking to speak in one voice as they take on the ruling coalition.

In their arrangement, DCP has ceded ground in Malava for a DAP-K candidate, while Wiper will back DCP’s choice in Magarini. This coordination aims to consolidate votes and avoid internal competition that has in the past weakened the opposition’s standing. The leaders expressed confidence that the joint strategy will not only secure the contested seats but also send a strong message to President William Ruto’s administration that the opposition remains a formidable force capable of reshaping the country’s political landscape.

Across the regions, preparations are already underway. In Western Kenya, the campaign will be coordinated by Governor Natembea , Senator Cleophas Malala , Senator Khalwale  supported by P.K. Salasya and a strong grassroots team. In the Coast region, similar structures are being established to ensure that the message of unity and collective strength resonates with voters.

The opposition’s call for togetherness is more than a political tactic—it is being framed as a moral and national duty. The message is clear that unity is not an option but an imperative for those seeking to restore balance in Kenya’s democracy. With one voice, one strategy, and one purpose, the opposition believes it can transform the coming by-elections into a defining moment of political change.
