Nairobi, Kenya – 14th May 2025 – Safaricom PLC (NSE: SCOM) has today announced a strategic partnership with Quickmart, one of Kenya’s leading retail chains, to expand access to its 4G and 5G home internet solutions. This collaboration brings high-speed internet services closer to more Kenyans by making routers available across all 61 Quickmart outlets nationwide.
As part of the initiative, Safaricom has also introduced a simplified, self-service router activation process that allows customers to get online faster. Shoppers can now scan a QR code to register their SIM card, activate their account, select an internet package, and start enjoying connectivity immediately.
“In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we are continuously innovating to provide our customers with the best connectivity solutions. This partnership will ensure that more Kenyans can access reliable home internet with ease, reinforcing our promise of seamless connectivity and great value,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.
J. Thuku, Chief Commercial Officer at Quickmart, welcomed the collaboration, noting, “We are excited to collaborate with Safaricom to offer our customers easy access to high-speed internet solutions.
This partnership aligns with our goal to provide convenience and value to Kenyans by making essential services readily available at our stores.”
Safaricom’s 4G and 5G home routers—each retailing at KES 2,999—are now available at Quickmart branches, Safaricom Retail Shops, authorized dealers, and online at Masoko.co.ke. The company also plans to broaden distribution through additional retail partners across the country.
With 4G network coverage reaching over 97% of Kenya’s population and 5G now present in all 47 counties, these home internet solutions are especially beneficial to customers in areas without fibre coverage. Safaricom has also continued to improve the customer experience by upgrading Home Fibre speeds at no extra cost and running home service clinics nationwide.
This development comes as Safaricom marks 25 years of operations in Kenya, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and nationwide digital inclusion.
