NAIROBI, KENYA, FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2025 – The UEFA Champions League (UCL) Trophy has officially arrived in Kenya, concluding Heineken®’s 2025 global Trophy Tour. The month-long journey, which began in Vietnam, traversed Asia and Africa, bringing the electrifying spirit of European football to some of the world’s most passionate supporters.
Football legend and UCL winner Bastian Schweinsteiger is accompanying the trophy on its five-country journey, which includes Vietnam, Indonesia, South Africa, Zambia, and Kenya. The tour aims to honour dedicated fans who follow the UEFA Champions League religiously, despite being thousands of miles from the stadiums.
Kenya’s segment of the tour features a vibrant lineup of activities, including high-profile ceremonies, interactive fan experiences, and local football engagements. Schweinsteiger will officially present the UCL Trophy to President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, during a ceremony attended by top officials from the Ministry of Sports, Football Kenya Federation (FKF), UEFA, and Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL), the local Heineken® partner.
On Saturday, May 3, FKF and Heineken® will host a football match where Schweinsteiger will interact with prominent Kenyan football legends. Later that day, 700 football fans – selected through a Heineken® promotion – will have the rare opportunity to view the iconic trophy up close during a special fan event.
Since its launch on April 7, the 2025 Trophy Tour has energized football communities with immersive events designed to bring the excitement of matchday to life. The campaign highlights the importance of 'hardcore' fans who follow every game despite time zones, distance, or circumstances.
Heineken® continues to demonstrate its commitment to connecting global audiences to elite football experiences. Locally, KWAL has played a key role in coordinating the Kenyan leg of the tour, which celebrates fan loyalty and passion for the beautiful game.
Over the past three decades, Heineken® has used its partnership with UEFA to bridge the gap between the sport’s elite stages and its devoted fans across the globe. The 2025 edition of the UCL Trophy Tour reaffirms that commitment, ensuring no fan is left out of the celebration.
