In a heartfelt address to fellow Kenyans, Jimi Wanjigi opens with gratitude to God amidst the challenging season the country has endured. He highlights the resilience of the people, who, despite losing loved ones and facing economic hardships, remain steadfast.
Wanjigi addresses the challenges created and perpetuated by the government, from ignoring unconstitutional projects to failing promises and inadequate security measures, all contributing to the high cost of living.
The focus then shifts to the alarming public debt situation, where the national treasury's report reveals staggering borrowing, surpassing approved limits and creating concerns about Kenya's economic future. Wanjigi questions the legality of exceeding approved borrowing and emphasizes the growing burden on citizens, turning the nation into a debt-driven economy.
He sheds light on the decline in usable foreign exchange, signaling a lack of confidence in the national currency. Amidst the citizens' struggles, Wanjigi critiques the shift in conversations from addressing people's issues to power dynamics and political positions.
Expressing disappointment in recent political developments, Wanjigi questions the delay in addressing the people's agenda after Raila Odinga's declaration for the African Union Chairmanship position. He criticizes the manipulation of political alliances and calls for a shift in leadership, urging Kalonzo Musyoka to retire and pave the way for new leadership.
Wanjigi emphasizes the gravity of the situation, highlighting the bottom-up economic model's failure and the government's misplaced priorities, such as deploying officers to Haiti in times of domestic crises.
In a scathing critique of the current leadership, he singles out President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto, labeling Ruto as the continuity of problems he helped create. Wanjigi stands with the people, expressing shared pain and optimism for a better future, vowing not to quit until real change is achieved.
