SPORTPESA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT FOR GRASSROOT SPORTS IN A 5 MILLION SEASON SPONSORSHIP

Sportpesa, a leading online gaming platform in Kenya that has developed multiple life-changing betting opportunities that have had a positive impact on winners. Similarly, Sportpesa sponsorships of sports teams at grassroots level as well as at premier level have helped to surface talent, and enrich sports in Kenya and beyond.
Over the years that has developed a regional and global presence in six countries, today in the interest of supporting sports development and surfacing young football talent, Sportpesa has announce its sponsorship of six grassroots teams drawn from Kasarani Constituency. The sponsorship was launched today at a ceremony held at Muhuri Muchiri Stadium, Kasarani.
Present during the launch event was Cabinet Secretary for Youth and Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba , Sportpesa Ceo, Hon. Geofrey Mulanya , Hon. Oscar Sudi and Hon Ronald Karauri who lauded the move by SportPesa and their continued effort in supporting sports sector in the country.
Speaking during the launch, CS Ababu Namwamba said “I am so excited about this sponsorship because it is in perfect harmony with the bottom-up transformation agenda that our government is driving. The teams have been sponsored to a tune of 5 million shillings that will go a long way in catering for the teams' needs. I know with this kind of support the teams represented here will reach the national leagues and the Kenya Premier League. In order to get sports to the highest level, I am inviting corporate sponsors to get on board and assist the Ministry in its efforts of developing sport.”
Among the 43 teams, five men’s teams and one women’s team are among the ones who have been supported by the SportPesa CEO under the company’s social responsibility arm. The players from the winning team received a donation of brand-new home and away club kits including cash donation that will help the 6 teams attend their league matches as part of the Kshs 5 million overall sponsorship cost.
The six teams are Victors Faith FC, Mwiki United, Ruai United, Kasarani Football Club, Maaji Mazuri FC and the sole female team, the Ruai Starlets.
Sportpesa CEO and MP for Kasarani, Hon Ronald Karauri said: “We say charity begins at home. That is why we have started here in Kasarani. We want this sponsorship to grow. We will expand this across the country so that we stand in support of grassroots teams.”
The launch took the form of a club kit unveiling and a cheque presentation that left fans and onlookers cheered the players from the six teams as they unveiled their new kit and accepted the donation from Sportpesa CEO and Kasarani MP Hon Ronald Karauri.
