NYERI, KENYA
- In a major political move set to redefine the country’s electoral landscape,
Wiper Democratic Movement (WPF) and Ukombozi Alliance Party Leader H.E. Dr. Stephen
Kalonzo Musyoka today paid a high-profile visit to Second Deputy President H.E.
Rigathi Gachagua at his residence in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County.
The private yet upbeat afternoon meeting culminated
in a shared commitment by both leaders to consolidate their political bases and
present a single presidential candidate under the WANTAM banner to
challenge President William Ruto on August 10, 2027.
Speaking after the consultations, Senate Minority
Leader Sen. Kiio Wambua described the session as a "cordial and frank
discussion on the future of Kenya," reinforcing that both principals
are aligned on delivering their collective political vision.
Democracy and Change Party (DCP) Secretary-General
Designate and Laikipia Senator John Methu emphasized the strong bond between
the two leaders, noting that no formal protocol was required for the meeting.
"Family members visit each other
without notice," Senator Methu said, adding that WPF and
DCP are establishing a robust organizational structure to bring their bases together
and rally like-minded parties.
Senator Methu also drew a firm line on coalition
parameters, stating: "We don't want partners who say, 'If it's not him,
it's Ruto.' That isn't WANTAM."
The gravity of the summit was highlighted by the
strong delegation accompanying Dr. Kalonzo, which included WPF Chairman Hon.
Jamleck Kamau, Secretary General Sen. Shakila Abdalla, Organising Secretary
Hon. Robert Mbui, and Governors Dr. Julius Malombe, Wavinya Ndeti, and Mutula
Kilonzo Jr. Also present were Senators Agnes Kavindu and Dan Maanzo, Makueni
Woman Representative Rose Museo, WPF Spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru, and SKM
Presidential Secretariat Chairman Prof. Geoffrey Muluvi.
As the road to 2027 takes shape, the united stance
forged at Wamunyoro signals a formidable political coalition ready to reshape
Kenya’s presidential contest.
