Nairobi, April 8, 2025 — The Board of The Nairobi Hospital (TNH) has reaffirmed its steadfast dedication to delivering quality healthcare and ensuring sound governance, even as the institution faces increased scrutiny over internal matters and leadership issues.

During a press briefing at the hospital's amphitheatre, newly appointed Board Chair Barcley Onyambu addressed concerns surrounding recent reports of internal disputes and ongoing investigations. He emphasized the importance of leadership confidence in a healthcare institution and affirmed that the reports in question were isolated and would not derail the hospital’s focus on service.

Onyambu noted that the Board remains united and is working closely with a capable leadership team guided by strong institutional values. Acting CEO Felix Osano reinforced this message, stating that the hospital continues to prioritize excellence and is taking deliberate actions to navigate the current challenges effectively.

In the wake of recent events, TNH has undergone a Board restructuring, bringing in new members with diverse professional backgrounds. These changes aim to strengthen the hospital’s strategic direction and improve decision-making at the institutional level.

The Board also addressed ongoing legal investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which began with a raid on the hospital premises. Although the probe has raised questions, particularly around patient confidentiality, the High Court has stayed the investigation and granted anticipatory bail to affected Board members. The hospital leadership assured full cooperation with authorities while remaining committed to safeguarding patient data and upholding ethical standards.

In addition to legal inquiries, the hospital has also experienced internal challenges, such as doctor suspensions and governance disagreements. These issues have sparked public discourse and calls for greater leadership accountability. Nevertheless, the Board expressed optimism, citing measures already implemented to maintain uninterrupted service delivery and ensure the continuity of patient care.

The leadership reiterated its responsibility to guide the hospital beyond this turbulent period and praised the staff for their unwavering dedication to service. The Board also extended its gratitude to partners, stakeholders, and the public for their continued support and trust in the institution during these testing times.
