By PATRICK KIMANZI & Agencies

_MWINGI, Sat 6Th_-  A man has appeared in Mwingi Law Courts charged with the murder of a 43-year-old man and injuring two others at Katangini, Ukasi in Mwingi.

His arrest comes barely a day after Mwingi Central MP Hon Gideon MULYUNGI and County Commissioner led a high powered security meeting at Katangini, Mwanzele and Sosoma, attended by area MCA, County Commander, County Criminal Investigations Officer, County AP Commander, County Intelligence Officer, Mwingi East DCC, area OCPD, among other high ranking officers and local leaders.

The suspect, of Somali descent was remanded in custody as police sleuths sought time in order to piece together a crime prosecution report on the incident.

'Isolated incident'

Police sources at Mwingi Divisional Hqs declined to speak to the PRESS but a source at the station said that "some of our local communities have concerns", but added that it "continues to be treated as an isolated incident".

Meanwhile, the body of the slain young man has yet to be found but the area MP has provided material support to a contingent of police reservists combing the area in the hope of recovering the body, media reports said.

"What they need is a sniffer dog to trace the whereabouts of the body. A lot of water has gone under the bridge, the buck stops with the police. The police should expedite their investigations and trace the body otherwise this is a case of a missing person' said Patrick Kimanzi, a spokesperson to the Wiper MP.
During the same period a man disapeared 3 weeks ago and has not been found todate. Another from Machakos was shot dead by bandits.
The meeting resolved;
1.) Trace, arrest & charge the terrorists in accordance with the law.
2.) Conduct an operation to recover illegal firearms and arrest criminals.
3.) Evict left over camels.
4.) Enhance police patrols.
5.) Install a 24hrs police barrier at Katangini and locate a police camp at Katangini & Kathungu.
6.) Stop sell of ancestral land to outsiders.
7.) Bring a sniffer dog to trace the missing person.
