New TIFA survey shows 56% Kenyans believe that country is heading in the wrong direction.

A new study has revealed that as of June 2023, 25 per cent of Kenyans believed that the Kenya Kwanza government is taking the country in the right direction- respondents who took part in the survey said 79 per cent of what is hindering the nation's progress is the high cost of living.Only 3 per cent of Kenyans did not give a response whether the country was heading to the right direction.
This is a decrease of -12 per cent from the month of March where 37 per cent were satisfied that Kenya was headed in the right direction.
The study conducted by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) research released on Thursday states that 56 per cent of Kenyans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
According to the report, respondents who took part in the survey said 79 per cent of what is hindering the nation's progress is the high cost of living.
The 1,530 respondents were interviewed from June 24-30, 2023.
The sample was spread across nine regions which include Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift and Western.
The interviews were conducted through telephone interviews and face-to-face.
There was a positive and negative 2.5 per cent margin of error.
According to the survey, leadership (5 per cent),employment (4 per cent), general development (2 per cent) and corruption (2 per cent) are other the factors considered by those who said the country is moving in the negative direction.
Out of the respondents who said the country was moving in the right direction, 24 per cent said this was due to good leadership by President William Ruto.
Some 12 per cent said it is because of the cost of living, 8 per cent cited the new budget, and 4 per cent general development, ethnic tensions.
