UNESCO Launches Covid19 Official Information Portal in Nairobi.

A new Media Council Covid -19 official information portal has been launched in Nairobi.

Speaking at Sarova Stanley hotel, UNESCO Regional Director for Eastern Africa and Representative to Kenya Prof. Hubert Gijzen emphasized that the portal will ensure that information is reached out to all young people living in informal settlements without one being left behind.
He further observed that for a country to sensitise the communities on the theory of Covid-19, all players including Media Council , Ministry of Health and ICT must work together to give the communities quick Covid-19 case reports, vaccinations while reaching out to young people who are the majority in the country.
On his part, the Ministry of ICT , Innovation and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hon Joe Mucheru (EGH) expressed his enthusiasm for UNESCO proposition which he said will scale up some of the ongoing projects.
"This platform must be used not only during times of the pandemic but also in post and pre - covid period" said Mucheru.
MCK Director CEO MR David Omwoyo praised Prof Hbert Gijzen for the good work and projects within Kenya to promote Media Council communication.
Mr Victor Bwire , Director Media Training and Development MCK said that so far 1800 journalist have been vaccinated within the pandemic period and urged that those who haven't to embrace the initiative too .
Lastly Mr Hubert agreed to continue to partner in the fields of competence of UNESCO.
