How Kitovoto Changed Fortunes Of Youths Working At Enziu WAITA Chinese Factory

By The COUNTY DIARY Editor

Popular Waita politician and MCA aspirant Hon Kitovoto Mutinda is the man credited for changing the fortunes of youths working at the Chinese mining company in Enziu, The COUNTY DIARY reports.

Kitovoto was instrumental in addressing incidents that exposed the Chinese investors' ethical standards of safety measures, health, environmental, labour and human rights violations.

"Things are changing here. We are paid every Friday. We thank Kitovoto for pushing for our rights including enhancing safety measures. There is More needs to be done" said Sammy Musili who works as a casual labourer at the company.

Through the escalated efforts of Hon Kitovoto Mutinda, the Chinese managers at Enziu also agreed to his push for CSR ( Coporrate Social Responsibility ) program as stated in 2010 Constitution of Kenya by building public toilet on the market and pledged a health centre at Enziu.

"Chinese companies look for a good return of their investment and hence, they exploit the country's economic condition and the workforce. This can not be allowed. My mandate as an MCA representating Waita Ward at the Kitui County Assembly will be advocacy and lobbying against Chinese exploitation of our youth.

Kitui Governor H.E Kaluki Ngilu will also chip in as the CSR starts" said the firebrant Kitovoto.

Enziu residents have also been promised a KPLC transformer through the Ministry of Environment under CEC Patrick Koki Musau ( Kuvasila).

But the anger over the treatment of African workers in Chinese mining companies has triggered a burgeoning diplomatic crisis and exposed the exploitation as well as unethical practices adopted by Chinese employers in the most African nations.
